Thank you for your interest in the role of Director of Transport at EMCCA.
This is an exciting time for the East Midlands and particularly for the transport system. Currently the lack of universally reliable, affordable and sustainable transport links is a barrier to inclusive growth in the East Midlands. EMCCA will be the single public transport body for the East Midlands and we will have a great opportunity to improve our travel networks right across the region. Our priority is to develop an integrated and sustainable transport strategy, investment plan and delivery function.
In June of this year, our Mayor secured £2 billion through the Government’s new Transport for City Regions Fund. This funding will be used to drive growth and productivity through investment in integrated transport networks, transforming infrastructure to support the delivery of new homes and improve access to opportunity for all, and decarbonising transport and enabling healthy living, including promoting modal shift from cars to public transport, walking and cycling.
This funding will act as the launchpad for a major renewal in our region. Crucially, it will connect more people to jobs, skills, education and the places that matter most to them.
That’s why this Director of Transport role is so important to the region. We’re looking for an expert in the Transport field who will grow with EMCCA, shaping EMCCA’s transport strategy and ensuring the effective delivery of the £2 billion investment programme over the next seven years.
While an emerging pipeline of schemes is already in place, you will test and refine priorities, grow a capable and delivery-focused team, and ensure that projects drive both immediate impact and long-term transformation - particularly in the context of net zero, inclusive growth and regional connectivity.
Thank you again for your interest. We look forward to hearing from you.
